Hearing loss is incurable. Our long-term goal is to develop biological treatments to restore sound sensation in patients

Our lab aims to discover—in detail—the molecular mechanism by which non-mammalian species naturally regenerate lost sensory hair cells in their inner ears. In parallel, we are developing a platform in adult mice that allows us to evaluate systematically and ultimately screen for drugs and manipulations that lead to proliferative hair cell regeneration in the deaf cochlea.

We support inclusive, diverse, and equitable conduct of research

We resist attempts to dictate uniformity and embrace all forms of diversity. We are all different and support each other, so our research group as a whole is much better than the sum of its individual parts.
