The Stanford Physician Leadership Certificate Program is a cohort-based foundational learning experience where you will discover how to learn and implement the most important leadership skills that will take your career as a physician to the next level of success.

OVERVIEW

The program provides participants with an evidence-based framework for personal growth, key management and leadership skills, and deep connection with peers. The program utilizes cases and simulations, discussion groups, and professional coaching that provides holistic support for the participants to understand, practice, and cultivate effective interpersonal, management, and leadership skills. Participants complete several psychometric tools that shed light on personal competencies and facilitate each participant’s leadership development plan.

Accreditation Statement

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Credit Designation

American Medical Association (AMA) Stanford Medicine designates this Other activity (synchronous and asynchronous sessions) for a maximum of 33.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits^TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Stanford Medicine is authorized to award pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credit for programs toward advancement or recertification in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Participants in select programs wishing to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualified Education credit must self-report their participation. To self-report ACHE activities, log into your MyACHE account and select ACHE Qualified Education Credit.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the program suited for residents?

No. The program targets early to mid-career practicing physicians aspiring to or already in leadership roles.

I am a physician practicing outside of the United States. Can I participate in this program?

The program's content is oriented to the context of healthcare education and delivery in the United States. International applications are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

When do the synchronous sessions take place?

Each session will be conducted via Zoom on Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm Pacific Time, February 15, March 15, April 19, May 17, June 21, July 12, July 26.

What is the time commitment for participation in the program?

We estimate 3-4 hours of time commitment per week.

What payment methods are accepted?

Are there scholarships available?

No, there are no scholarships available at this time.

Do I need to participate in the synchronous sessions?

Yes. Full attendance of the program and submission of the Capstone Assignment is required for the Certificate of Completion.

How does coaching work with the SPLC program?

The SPLC program features individual coaching sessions. Coaching will provide you with personalized guidance to enhance your leadership skills, helping you navigate complex challenges in healthcare. Through these one-on-one sessions, you will develop strategies for effective communication, decision-making, and team building, tailored to your unique roles and professional goals.

Will I receive a Stanford certificate upon completion of the program?

Yes. You will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Stanford Center for Continuing Medical Education upon completing the requirements.
