In partnership with Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services, this project aims to evaluate survivorship-related communication gaps and preferences, and design, develop, and pilot test a new family-centered communication intervention for Hispanic/Latino/a/e young adult childhood cancer survivors and their families

This project explores communication practices and barriers in adolescent/young adult (AYA) survivorship clinical settings from the perspective of survivorship clinicians and Spanish medical interpreters and aims to shape clinician communication practices by developing a new clinician communication toolkit.

In close partnership with Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services, we have created the Jacob’s Heart Family Advisory Board (JH-FAB) to guide our community-engaged research studies. We are also conducting a community-driven grocery program evaluation with input from the JH-FAB.

This project is developing a technology-enabled toolkit to help support children re-entering school after a childhood cancer diagnosis, with support from the San Jose Auxiliary for Children 2024 Annual Campaign
