Emerging Research, Diagnosis and Treatment of Lyme Disease and Tick-Borne Illness

A Continuing Medical Education Conference presented by the Stanford Institute for Immunity, Infection and Transplantation at the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Statement of Need

The goal of this conference is to educate clinicians, health care providers, residents and fellows on the state-of-the-art research, diagnostic and therapeutic approach to Lyme disease, and to educate participants in the current understanding of Lyme disease pathobiology and research findings. 

Target Audience

This is a national conference designed for physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, advanced practice nurses, professional nurses, physician assistants, researchers, and psychologists specializing in Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology, Complimentary Medicine, Family Medicine and Community Health, Infectious Disease and Global Health, Internal Medicine, Neurological Surgery, and Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Review microbial infections transmitted through tick bites
  • Incorporate diagnostic evaluation strategies for patients following tick bites
  • Determine the appropriate management and therapeutic approach for patients following tick bite
  • Incorporate appropriate therapeutic approaches for patients that test positive for borrelia burgdorferi infection on two-tier testing
