Hot Topics in Clinical Pediatrics: A Symposium presented by John Muir Health and Stanford Children’s Health

The Department of Pediatrics at the Stanford University School of Medicine,  Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford and the Pediatric Department of John Muir Health presents a Continuing Medical Education conference.

Statement of Need

This CME course will provide the pediatrician and family physician with upto-date clinical information on a wide range of clinical issues encountered in daily pediatric practice. Hot Topics in Clinical Pediatrics will highlight recent advances in pediatric medicine presented by a variety of clinical faculty covering topics such as abdominal pain, neonatal fever, vaping, integrative rheumatology and what pediatricians need to know about childhood survivors of cancer.  Cases will be presented in endocrinology and neuroscience. There will be ample time for questions and interacting with the faculty.

Target Audience

This is a regional program designed for: pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and allied health professionals.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Evaluate the febrile neonate who presents with apneic episodes and treat or refer appropriately.
  • Develop strategies to prevent or decrease tobacco use, including vaping in children and adolescents in the local community.
  • Determine the appropriate use of integrative therapies in the treatment of the pediatric patient with JRA including the use of omega 3, acupuncture, anti-inflammatory diet and aromatherapy.
  • Develop appropriate counseling skills to provide necessary education to patients and parents on the health effects of vaping.
