How To Apply
Application Procedure
The Stanford Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program interviews applicants for eight (8) Child & Adolescent Psychiatry positions and one (1) Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Community Track position. We welcome applications from both: national and international medical graduates. To be eligible for our program, you must have either an MD or DO degree, and have three years of Adult Residency training in an ACGME-approved program. Also you need to have passed the USMLE exam steps I, II and III, as well as the ECFMG exam (if an international graduate) before the interviews.
General Information
Stanford only participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). All supporting documents must be submitted electronically.
Within the NRMP and ERAS we offer two tracks:
- Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (Categorical Track)

- Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (Community Track)

When Do I Apply?
Completed applications will be reviewed starting July 17. The deadline to apply is September 13.
We strongly encourage you to submit your completed applications prior to this date, as the interviewing schedule fills quickly.
How Do I Apply?
Please use myERAS to track the status of your documents. Due to the large volume of applications, we will not be able to let you know which documents we received.
A complete application includes the following documents in ERAS:
- ERAS Application
- Personal statement
- Curriculum vitae
- Program Director Letter of Recommendation with the attached Program Director's Attestation FORM including documentation of three (3) passed Clinical Skills Evaluations (CSE).
- Additional three (3) Letters of Recommendations from faculty members who have worked with an applicant in clinical settings.
- Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
- Official medical school transcripts
- Official copy of your United States Medical Licensing Examination scores (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing (COMLEX). Osteopathic (DO) Medical Graduates: COMLEX scores are accepted in lieu of USMLE. However, USMLE scores are preferred and recommended).
- Photo. Preferably, a professional high-resolution headshot.
International Medical Graduates must also submit the following ECFMG Supporting Documents in ERAS:
- ECFMG Certificate and Status Report
- Stanford Hospital and Clinics does not sponsor the H-1B visa.
When are interviews held?
Our interview season begins in mid-September and goes through the end of November. We conduct interviews remotely on Wednesdays. Interview Dates: September 18, 25, October 2, 9, 23, 30, November 6, 13, 20, 27. Typically, we start at 8am and end by 5pm.
