Mission

We aim to improve Emergency Medical Services (EMS) readiness to care for children with medical complexity across the state of California.

Problem Statement

Children with medical complexity often have poorer outcomes in prehospital settings due to delays in care access, and under-preparedness of EMS providers (Casey et al, 2019).

Strategic Approach

We will foster partnerships with local and state EMS and other critical stakeholders to better understand how pediatric providers can support caregivers interfacing with EMS and how to improve EMS readiness for children with medical complexity.

Our work will center around patient, caregiver and pediatric subspecialist voices to create effective systemic solutions for parents and caregivers to advocate for their children’s needs when seeking pre-hospital care.
