D&I Networks

Organized in 2018 by Stanford University Medical School faculty from the Departments of Medicine (Steven Asch MD), Pediatrics (Lisa Chamberlain MD, Grace Lee MD), Psychiatry (Mark McGovern PhD) and Surgery (Alex Sox-Harris PhD), SUNDIR is a grassroots transdisciplinary, trans-departmental network of people interested in using dissemination and implementation (D&I) science in their work. SUNDIR’s mission is to connect members of the Stanford community with an interest in D&I scientific methods, in order to enhance quality and build D&I capacity across our research, training, and health systems enterprise. SUNDIR meets virtually the 3rd Monday of the month.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Clinical Trials Network (CTN) Translation & Implementation Special Interest Group SIG is formed by members and affiliates across all nodes of the CTN network. Facilitated by CDI, the Translation & Implementation SIG meets bi-monthly, and has four workgroups that meet independently by share progress at the monthly SIG meeting. The four workgroups are: Early Career Investigators; Health Equity; Implementation Outcomes; and Implementation Strategies. Each workgroup has specific activities and goals toward enhancing the role of D&I science in clinical trial design and intervention implementability. The bi-monthly SIG meetings feature an presentation by a D&I research expert or an expert in scaling up interventions using approaches from business and marketing.

National Institute on Drug Abuse Clinical Trials Network Western States Node Translation & Implementation Workgroup is composed of senior and early career investigators interested in integrating D&I science into trials initiated or underway in the Western States Node, as well as developing or executing career development awards. The group consists of faculty, fellows and staff from Oregon Health & Sciences University and Stanford University School of Medicine, and meets bi-monthly, virtually, for one hour.

The VA Center for Innovation to Implementation (ci2i) is based at the Palo Alto Veterans Health Administration location and is host to numerous health services and implementation research investigators, as well as training programs. Ci2i’s focus is the health of US Veterans, and projects cover a wide range of health contexts and health problems. Ci2i investigators are leaders in many areas of D&I science, and have bi-directional relationships with CDI.

The Stanford Medicine Center for Improvement (SMCI) is a partnership among Stanford School of Medicine, Stanford Health Care and Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital. SMCI is focused on supporting faculty who seek to influence the quality of health care services within these health care settings, and integrates methodologies from improvement science and implementation science.
