Platform 2: Gene Editing

Gene editing is a method to change the DNA sequence of a cell with single nucleotide precision. It is being applied to sickle cell disease (a disease that causes malformed red blood cells and resulting destructive organ damage) and other genetic diseases of the blood and immune system. It can also be applied to other monogenic diseases (diseases caused by mutations in single genes).
