Center for Cancer Nanotechnology Excellence
and Translation (CCNE-T)
GE Global Research Center
The GE Global Research Center is located on a 600-acre site in Niskayuna, New York. The various R&D buildings provide 1.25 million square feet of laboratory, library and office space. The center is equipped with a breadth and scope of equipment that is rarely found anywhere in the world (see also A.8.5.).
Of approximately 1700 employees at the Niskayuna site, about 1100 are staff scientists, engineers, and technicians, representing all of the major scientific disciplines. One of the key strengths of the technical team is that personnel assigned to the proposed project have access to the technical diverse members of the GE Research Staff, providing quick solutions to unforeseen problems.
In addition, GE is recognized as a world leader in medical equipment development and manufacturing as well as advanced semiconductor packaging and integration, critical technologies upon which the proposed program will draw. The CCNE-TR will significantly leverage these resources for both our nanotechnology and molecular imaging effort with direct involvement of GE Scientists (e.g., Dr. Filkins, S. Lomnes, D. Stutz). It is also highly likely that as our efforts reach commercialization stages that GE will be a key asset to this CCNE-TR.
