Applied Learning Initiative

Created by members of a Stanford student group, Applied Learning Initiative (ALI) connects researchers to Stanford students studying computer science and related fields.

There is a tremendous demand among students to work on impactful research projects, but it can be challenging to find research that leverages their skill sets. The founders of ALI believe this presents an exciting opportunity to connect research projects hindered by a lack of computational and quantitative expertise to hardworking and committed students.

Founded last year, ALI is a growing network of 200 students from departments including computer science, mathematics, statistics, electrical engineering. This includes students in Stanford’s largest machine learning classes who work on final projects that often lead to publications or research during future quarters and the summer.
