Stanford CARE Implementation Science Fellowship 2023

Stanford CARE Implementation Science Fellowship 2023

We are seeking 4 superb biostatistics/comp science/epidemiology post-doctorate researchers or PhD/masters candidates to serve as Stanford CARE Implementation Science Fellows for one year, to learn to teach and mentor Stanford CARE Scholars project teams.

The mission of the Stanford Center for Asian Health Research and Education (CARE) is to improve the health of Asians, everywhere. The Stanford CARE Scholars program is a year-long virtual course, anchored by a 9-week summer research immersion, which trains 25 undergraduate and early graduate students in large database precision medicine, to prepare them as leaders in Asian and Global Health.

Stanford Implementation Science Fellows will serve as project mentors for 25 CARE Scholars, in all aspects of their research projects. Ahead of the CARE Scholars summer research immersion, Implementation Science Fellows will receive training on teaching and mentoring techniques; help prepare datasets for analysis; learn about specific analytic techniques to avoid biases in national dataset analysis; participate in an innovation seminar series with leaders in business, technology, medicine, health policy; learn best practices in scientific communication; and prepare to teach/mentor.   Each Implementation Science Fellow will mentor 2 teams of learners on 2 projects per team (total 4 projects), and provide insight/direction to teams on their analysis, presentation and papers for publication. Fellows will meet regularly with the CARE Implementation Science Program Director to discuss best practices in teaching and mentoring, and to improve their skills as educators.

TIME COMMITMENT

This is a 60% position for the summer research immersion, with the expectation that Fellows will spend 25 hours per week with their mentees on their projects and participate in CARE Scholars course activities during those 10 weeks. Prior to the start of the Summer Research Immersion, Fellows will help with database cleaning and participate in the Innovation Seminar Series. After the Summer Research Immersion, Implementation Science Fellows will work with their project teams to finalize and submit manuscripts for publication.
