Manabu Muto, MD, PhD

Dr. Manabu Muto is a Professor in the Department of Therapeutic Oncology at the Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University, since April 2013. He also holds multiple other positions at Kyoto University Hospital, including Head of the Department of Clinical Oncology, Head of Inpatient Cancer Care Division at the Cancer Center, Director of the Center of Clinical Bio Resource, Director of the Center of Kyoto Innovation Center for New Generation Clinical Trials and iPS Cell Therapy, and Director of the Deputy Institute for Advancement of Clinical and Translational Science (iACT). Additionally, he serves as an Advisor to the Director of The Hospital Kyoto University Hospital.

Dr. Muto specializes in molecular biology, generic medicine, gastroenterology, GI oncology, and clinical trials, with a particular focus on esophageal cancer. He received 18 awards, including the Princess Takamatsu Cancer Research Found Prize-winner award in 2010. He is a member of several medical societies, including ASCO, ASGE, ISDE, ESMO, and 23 Japanese associations. He has 8 certifications and accomplishments, 21 Japanese patents, and 3 public policy proposals.

Dr. Muto has authored 271 original articles in English and 137 in Japanese and has presented at 111 international conferences and 849 domestic conferences. He has also authored 6 English books and 42 Japanese books and edited and supervised 10 publications.
