Srini Conjeevaram, Advisory Board Member

Srini Conjeevaram is Vice President, Corporate Strategy for Penumbra, Inc. (NYSE: PEN; $10B Market Cap), a high-growth, global medical device company. Prior to joining Penumbra, he was a healthcare-focused venture capital fund executive for 20 years. Srini has been a key executive in the rapid growth and scaling of Penumbra. His global orientation, regulatory knowledge, corporate infrastructure skills, including sales operations and significant financial acumen, have provided a “best athlete” for Penumbra to deploy in its most critical areas. Srini’s skill at forecasting, budgeting, and strategy have been key to the company’s success and prompted the expansion of his role to include the management of sales operations.

Trained as a mechanical engineer, he started his professional life designing turbine engines for General Motors, before earning his MBA and beginning a career in corporate finance for investment banking firm Smith Barney. He got his start in health and medical venture investing in 1991, when he joined Galen Partners. He was a general partner at Galen, focusing on growth equity healthcare investments.

Over his 15 years at Galen, Srini reviewed 1,200 investments, worked with 59 portfolio companies, was deeply involved with 15, and served on 4 boards. He oversaw capital drawdowns, distributions, and sale of investments; financial reporting for all funds; and ran quarterly meetings of the Valuation Committee. He was involved in turnarounds and restructuring of distressed portfolio companies. He also served on publicly traded companies, on the Executive, Audit, and Compensation Committees for Derma Sciences, a wound care company and on the Audit Committee for Acura Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company.,

Srini is a healthcare advisor to private equity firms. Srini is a Qualified Financial Expert, has successful experience growing and scaling companies, and has a deep understanding of the complexities of the healthcare market, from the regulatory approval process to the dynamics of health system purchasing.

He was a board member of Gilda’s Club, a not-for-profit charity focused on free emotional and social support for cancer patients and families.

Srini is based in San Francisco and Miami. His personal interests include tennis, golf, photography, and travel.
