Overview

This module provides a broad understanding of cannabis/marijuana. This includes terminology, reasons young people do or do not use, the endocannabinoid system, short-term and long-term effects of cannabis/marijuana use, and the potential impacts on the adolescent brain.

Goals

Increase knowledge about basic facts of cannabis/marijuana
Gain awareness of the potential harms of cannabis/marijuana use, including its impact on the adolescent brain
Allow students to summarize the basic facts of cannabis/marijuana

Teacher Instructions

Teachers should orient themselves to the module by going through each unit and download the PowerPoint before a class presentation to fully understand the material. Teachers should also download the accompanying activities for in-class activities. Instructions for each activity may be found in the activity’s accordion. Activities are meant to be printed for students before class begins.
