Welcome to The Cancer Survivorship Research Team led by Dr. Erin Cassidy at Stanford University. Our lab is committed to promoting the well-being of women with breast cancer currently undergoing treatment, as well as supporting those throughout survivorship.

In particular, we have two ongoing research projects.  Dr. Cassidy is  working  in collaboration with Dr. Oxana Palesh at Massey Cancer Center at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and Dr. Shelli Kesler at UT Austin.  The current  studies aim to better understand and predict chemotherapy related cognitive impairments (also known as 'chemobrain') in breast cancer patients. These studies use MRI and cognitive testing to assess brain structure and function.

In addition, we are a research collaborator of the Cancer Survivorship Program at Stanford Hospital. We recently concluded a survey study assessing the survivorship care needs of patients at the Women's Cancer Clinic. We hope the insights of this study will lead to better and more individualized supportive care for cancer survivors.

We invite you to learn more about our work through our website and thank you for your interest in our research.

Our Vision

Our research group studies cancer control.  We are primarily interested in investigating the impact of cancer treatments on sleep, fatigue and quality of life. Current projects include investigating the impact of behavioral and pharmacological interventions on improving sleep, fatigue and quality of life in cancer patients and survivors. We are also investigating the relationship between dysregulation of the neuroendocrine stress response system, sleep problems, fatigue, and disease progression in cancer patients with primary and metastatic cancers.

It is our hope that through our research studies we can improve the lives of cancer patients both now and in the future.
