Title: Homologous Recombination Deficiency in Cancer: Prevalence, Diagnosis, and Novel Targeting Approaches
Description: The talk will outline the under-appreciated extent of homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) in sporadic cancers. New methods for diagnosing HRD will be discussed. The DNA repair deficiency of HRD will be discussed in the setting of the backup DNA repair pathways that operate in HRD and how this produces the characteristic genomic changes observed. Synthetic lethality strategies have been engaged in HRD by the use of PARP-inhibitors, but how we can improve on PARP-inhibitors will be discussed.
