Alessio Rotini was awarded the inaugural SMB Helen M. Blau Award for Early Career Investigators at the Society's 2024 meeting held July 14th-19th in Estérel, Quebec, Canada. The conference was organized by April Pyle (University of California Los Angeles), Doug Millay (Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center) and Blau lab alum Penney Gilbert (University of Toronto).
Alessio was selected from a set of short-listed applicants who each presented during a special section of the meeting.
This was the 13th meeting on "Muscle Stem Cells in Development, Regeneration & Adaptations", and featured an opening keynote by Fabio Rossi, also a Blau lab alum. Helen Blau spoke on "Targeting a gerozyme to improve muscle function and extend healthspan" during Session 5 of the conference, and postdoctoral fellow Dan Robinson presented a poster. Senior Scientist Emmeran Le Moal also attended.
