The Stanford Biodesign Policy Program seeks to bridge the gap between innovators and policymakers to ensure that life-changing health technologies can reach patients more efficiently.
Our deep connections across the innovation ecosystem give us access to real-world insights that we share with policymakers through research, education, and engagement. Our goal is to provide meaningful data and insights that inform decisions and policies to accelerate patient access to transformative technologies.
Three Pillar Approach
Research - Quantifying the barriers to patient access.

The Stanford Biodesign Policy Program publishes research that is nonpartisan, independent, and grounded in academic rigor. Our aim is to deliver timely, evidence-based data insights that are immediately relevant and actionable. These insights support stakeholders, particularly policymakers navigating current legislative or rulemaking agendas, in making informed decisions.

Education - Offering targeted educational experiences for policymakers.

Policymakers are uniquely positioned to make critical decisions that impact health technology innovation. Through evidence-based education, we equip current and future policymakers with the knowledge and tools to understand the current policy landscape and how it influences the advancement of new health technology from conception to commercialization.

Engagement - Elevating insights to connect innovators and policymakers.

Our engagement efforts aim to elevate the toughest policy issues facing healthcare stakeholders, inform policymakers, and activate others across the innovation ecosystem. We host health policy webinars and share policy insights through publications, commentaries, editorials, and presentations. We also convene experts to discuss critical issues affecting the innovation ecosystem. Our goal is to connect directly with policymakers and serve as a trusted, independent, nonpartisan resource.
