Faculty Recruitment
The Beckman Center is dedicated to fostering the recruitment of outstanding new faculty researchers whose collaborative, interdisciplinary approach and emphasis on translational research are particularly well suited to the overall mission of the Beckman Center.
Recruiting Outstanding Researchers
Competition for the most outstanding researchers is keen. The innovative services and technologies provided by the Beckman Center offer researchers a strong incentive to join the scientific community at Stanford.
The Recruitment Process
Applications for newly appointed tenure track assistant professorships may be submitted by department chairs. Preference will be given to applications for potential new Beckman Center faculty, or new faculty members in other departments on campus who will be working collaboratively with existing center faculty and/or whose research makes use of the technologies offered by the Beckman Service Centers.
Decisions are made by the Beckman Center director. One-time contributions of $100,000 are offered to new faculty who belong to one of the departments housed in the Beckman Center. A $75,000 contribution is offered to non-Beckman Center faculty who meet the eligibility requirements.
To submit a nomination, please provide a letter addressed to the Beckman Center director detailing the educational background and accomplishments of the candidate for a faculty position.
The letter should include a description of the candidate's research, their eligibility for funding (Beckman versus non-Beckman faculty), the extent to which their research interests overlap with the collaborative, interdisciplinary, translational work at the center, the need for services provided by the Beckman Service Centers, and any other information that might distinguish the applicant.
A current curriculum vitae should also be attached.
