The Beckman Symposium Returns: Join Us for “Pandemic Preparedness” on December 6

The Beckman Center News / Fall 2024

Nearly five years after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are still coping with the now-endemic virus and the consequences of long COVID. And now, another viral threat is on the horizon: the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus H5N1 is infecting dairy cows and spreading among mammals across the U.S.

A significant fallout of the pandemic was the erosion of trust in public health science. The upcoming Beckman Symposium, “Pandemic Preparedness,” will address this challenge by presenting the science behind vaccines, our immunological responses, and viral surveillance, as well as by examining policy decisions and strategies on how we can best communicate with the public.

Join us on December 6, 2024, at Berg Hall - Li Ka Shing Center for Learning and Knowledge, for a day filled with insight from leading researchers, healthcare professionals, emergency responders, and public health experts.
