Computing Support - Downloads and Updates

Virus and System Updates for all computers - We have installed Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) on your computer by default. SCEP is Stanford's site-licensed anti-malware and anti-virus software. It can protect your computer against viruses, adware/spyware, and other malicious software. It is set to update automatically throughout the day, however, if you would like to verify that it is updated,do the following:

Windows users, right-click on the green shield located at the bottom right hand corner of your screen next to the clock
Mac users, click on the green shield located on the top right hand corner of the screen next to the clock
In addition to virus updates, Windows users should go to the Microsoft Update page and scan for updates. You can do this by going into your Start menu, All Programs, Microsoft Update. Install any "critical updates and service packs" recommended by Microsoft for your machine. Do this often!

Macintosh users should also be applying any critical updates. You can check your system by going into the Apple Menu, Software Update or App Store... and installing any new update that is listed.
