Physician Volunteers

Welcome!

We're happy that you're interested in teaching students and serving patients in need. Arbor Free Clinic is a student-run organization overseen by the clinic's medical directors. Arbor is open on Sundays and currently operates with a hybrid in-person and telehealth model. Our physicians arrive at the clinic at 8 AM and typically finish with the last patients by 3 PM. Arbor is a non-emergency acute care clinic, and there is no charge for any of the services or medications we provide. We try to refer patients seeking a primary care physician to free or subsidized care providers in their area.

We offer the following services in a friendly and supportive environment:

  • medical care for adults
  • physical exams
  • sexual health services including pap smears, STI testing, and pregnancy tests
  • medications
  • lab tests
  • monthly specialty clinics
  • education and counseling
  • Arbor does not provide HIV testing or immunizations

Arbor carries basic physical examination equipment, equipment for lab sample collection, and many prescription drugs. Feel free to bring your own equipment, but we should have everything you will need.

As a volunteer, you will work with both preclinical and clinical medical students as well as undergraduates. Arbor is staffed with two to three physicians each Sunday. There is no minimum commitment. Please note that you need to be a California-certified physician. If you are not Stanford faculty, you will also need to obtain volunteer clinic faculty status. Please contact us at arborclinic@stanford.edu if this pertains to you.

We look forward to seeing you at Arbor!
