The Future Physician Educators and Leaders Internship is a rigorous, year-long leadership-focused internship designed for past SASI program participants who aspire to become mentors, educators, and changemakers in healthcare. This hybrid internship provides immersive experiences in mentorship, teaching, leadership, and health equity—culminating in a faculty-guided practicum and capstone project.

Stanford Anesthesia Summer Institute (SASI)

What You’ll Gain:

  • Hands-on leadership experience during a real clinical education program

  • Near-peer mentoring role as a Mentor-in-Residence (MIR)

  • Faculty-guided capstone project in research, quality improvement, or community impact

Time Commitment:

95–110 total hours across 10 months (virtual + in-person components)

Dates of Key Activities:

  • Leadership Academy: October–November 2025
  • Virtual Leadership Prep: February–June 2026
  • Practicum: Summer or Fall, 2026
  • Capstone Project Completion: Fall 2026

Stipend:

You will receive up to $3,450 upon successful completion of all internship components.

Travel and Housing:

Interns participating in one of our on-campus/in-person practicum sessions will receive on-campus housing and travel (non-local participants).

Eligibility:

Past participant of one of our SASI internships (in good standing) with a strong interest in medicine, leadership, and mentoring
