La Specola, part of Florence’s Museum of Natural History, is renowned for its extensive collection of wax models that were created in the 18th century, showcasing intricate details of human anatomy. In 2012, Dr. Paul Brown received a grant to photograph, in stereo, 100 of these sculptures.  Part of the collection was also included in the Cere Anatomiche exhibition at the Fondazione Prada in Milan from March to July 2023.

The use of stereo photography allows viewers to engage with these historical artifacts in a dynamic way, demonstrating the relevance of these traditional methodologies in modern scientific education.
