Half Century Club Luncheon

Please join the Stanford Medicine Alumni Association's as we host the annual Half Century Club Luncheon: a special afternoon designed to honor medical alumni and friends across multiple graduation years to celebrate those alumni who graduated more than 50 years ago. 

This year's guest speaker is Paul H. Wise, M.D., M.P.H.

Protecting Children in Violent Conflict and Political Instability

Paul H. Wise, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Wise is the Richard E. Behrman Professor of Child Health and Society and Professor of Pediatrics and Health Policy at Stanford University.  He is also faculty in the Center for Health Policy, the Center for Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law, and the Center for International Security and Cooperation, Freeman-Spogli Institute for International Studies, Stanford University.

Since July 2019, Dr. Wise has been working as Special Monitor to the U.S. Federal Court overseeing the treatment of migrant children in U.S. detention facilities and more recently, as a Senior Advisor to the St. Jude SAFER Ukraine initiative to evacuate children with cancer from Ukraine.

Dr. Wise’s work bridges the fields of child health equity, public policy, and international security studies.  He has published widely on these topics and his interdisciplinary contributions have been recognized by numerous honors and election to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
