LEAP AND BEYOND: INNOVATIVE RESEARCH IN FOOD ALLERGY

You're invited to attend special presentation LEAP and Beyond: Innovative Research in Food Allergy with Dr. Gideon Lack, lead investigator of the landmark Learning Early About Peanut (LEAP) Study.
The LEAP study, the first randomized controlled study to look at how to prevent peanut allergies, found that the early introduction of peanuts to high risk infants reduced the risk of developing a peanut allergy by approximately 75%.

Speaker
Professor Gideon Lack, Head of the Children’s Allergy Service at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, and Professor of Pediatric Allergy at King’s College London
Professor Lack is Clinical Lead in Adult and Pediatric Allergy. He read medicine at Oxford University before training as a Pediatrician in New York, and then specializing in Pediatric and Adult Allergy in Denver, Colorado.
He led the Department of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at St Mary’s Hospital, London for 12 years and became Professor of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at Imperial College London in 2005. He moved to King’s College London at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in May 2006.
His research has focused on severe childhood asthma, peanut allergy, and new strategies to prevent and treat food allergies, eczema, asthma, and hay fever in children and adults. His clinical expertise includes allergic asthma, anaphylaxis, and desensitizing vaccines to treat hay fever and other allergies.
