Message from Medical Director

As a pulmonologist specializing in Cystic Fibrosis and Critical Care Medicine, I have witnessed the benefits of attentive individualized patient care as well as the hardships of organ failure. Firstly, we are caregivers, and we strive to provide a level of clinical care that exceeds excellence. Secondly, we are educators, and we are committed to the science of medicine. Our clinical quality team, research team, and outreach programs are focused on regional, national, and international endeavors to educate and inform the world on best practices, clinical outcomes, and the personal challenges of this specific population.  Lastly, we are humans who are sympathetic and empathetic with the lives of our patients.

Diversity Statement

Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) has been integral in our clinical practice as well as our community and international endeavors. We are represented by a team with visible minorities, first generation post high-school graduates, and immigrants who have a clear inside understanding of the battles that individuals can face, but also appreciating the profound positive impacts that DEI awareness can have. I firmly believe that unconscious bias and conscious bias are prevalent in all environments; however, education, persistence, and self-awareness are unquestionably breaking down these obstacles. Our Cystic Fibrosis (CF) program might be limited by only 250 patients, but we are not limited in our celebration of DEI. I have directed this program for over 20 years and proudly share that I am the only male within the program of 13 staff. Our program is spiritually, religiously, racially, ethnically, politically, and LGBQT represented. We have also created a CF Patient Family Advisory Committee (PFAC) that also shares the same DEI values. We are in strong believe that all individuals should be treated equally, without exception.

Our Vision

We embrace the unity of our clinical team and the bond we have created with our patients and their friends and families. We aim to expand our clinical care with new CF affiliated care centers by providing support and care for physicians and patients in more remote areas both within and outside the state of California. Our will is to treat our patients clinically and emotionally to the best that modern medicine can provide, and ultimately rejoice when a cure is in hand.

Patient-Centered Care

Our patients are alike as they hold a diagnosis of CF, but we acknowledge that each patient is unique and warrants individualized care. Our multi-disciplinary conferences coupled with our evidence-based approach has successfully created a streamlined approach to the care of our patients.
