Research Project 1: Evaluation of California’s Guaranteed Income
In partnership with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and the Urban Institute, the Upstream Research Center is assessing the impact of Guaranteed Basic Income pilot programs on modifiable cancer risk factors. CDSS awarded $25 million in grant funding to seven guaranteed income pilots across the state. The pilots will provide unconditional, individual, regular cash payments ranging from $600-$1200 per month for a period of 12-18 months. Pilots will serve California residents who are pregnant or aging out of extended foster care.
