Our Mission
The Department of Urology is committed to facilitating the development of the next generation of outstanding academic urologists. We offer opportunities for medical students, residents and fellows to pursue a diverse array of training, the depth and breadth of which are unparalleled.
In addition, Stanford Urology is committed to diversity and dedicated to encouraging women, underrepresented minorities, diversity of religion, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, and physical ability. Our goal is to draw from people with a variety of backgrounds and life experiences to reach a new level of innovation in teaching, research and caring for patients.
Announcement
As of July 1, 2019, all urology programs will include the PGY-1 and provide 60 months of accredited education.

Resident Spotlight
Nicolas Seranio is known lovingly by his patients as “Dr. Nick”. He is a native of Southern California with family roots in the American south, Cuba, and Jamaica. He completed his undergraduate degree in Neurobiology at the University of California, Irvine where he hosted the eclectic radio show “Beat Surgery” at 88.9 FM KUCI. In medical school at the University of Pennsylvania he developed his interest in Urology, galvanized by the loss of his grandfather to prostate cancer. While at Penn he obtained a masters in translational research where he validated a novel approach to guiding immunotherapy in bladder cancer using circulating tumor cells. As a resident, he is interested in medical education and runs the “Urology Audio Guidelines” podcast aimed at helping trainees become more familiar with the standard of care within urology. When he is not working he enjoys traveling, exploring the Bay Area food scene, watching live music, and stand up paddle boarding with his life partner Dr. Camilla Griffiths. After residency Dr. Nick hopes to make an impact caring for communities that are the most in need.
