Fires can and do occur in laboratories and offices; the single largest cause of fires in California are related to electrical problems.
Fire prevention begins with understanding the elements of fire. Fire needs fuel, heat and oxygen; removing any one item will prevent and minimize the damage cause by the fire.
It is important to know how to prevent a fire from occuring and what to do in the event of a fire. Report non-conformities to your supervisor. Facility-related items are maintained by the Office of Facilities, Maintenance and Planning (OFPM) or by contacting SH&C Engineering and Maintenance.
