SMP Bike Fleet
Stanford Menlo Park has purchased 5 bicycles for use of SMP staff. One is located at the Medical School for shuttle riders who need to get to other campus locations; four will be located at SMP for local use. Checkout will require a signed waiver. Bikes come with full safety and security equipment, including a lock, helmet, rack & basket, and pant strap. All have a low enough bar that they can be ridden in a skirt, and range from small to large in size. The key to the locker in which each bike is stored can be checked out from the Operations Coordinator. If you lose the key to the locker OR to the bike lock, there will be a charge to replace it; otherwise, bike use is free. Bikes can be reserved on Sundial (under R: SMP Bike 1 through 5) and on a first-come, first-served basis. These are Diamondback and Schwinn "Comfort" bikes, easy to ride, sturdy, and very comfortable.
- Process for checking out bikes: see Operations Coordinator (Lobby) to sign waiver; then reserve bike in Sundial (r: SMP bike [locker #][size]). Keys are in the mail room.
- Please leave the lock, helmet and leg strap in the locker, lock it, and return the key to the mail room so the bike will be ready for the next user.
- Notify the Operations Coordinator is there is anything wrong with the bike.
- What do to in case of a breakdown/flat tire: if on campus, take the bike to the Campus Bike shop, let them know the bike is on a maintenance program, and they will give you a loaner bike to use until the original bike has been repaired. Be sure to notify the Operations Coordinator.
- Locker locations: 3 in lockers behind I-building, and 1 in lockers in 110 parking lot. The campus bike is located in the CCSR lockers between CCSR and the parking lot.
- Where to park on campus: in any bike rack. Please be SURE to lock the bike.
- Shower locations: In the SRI gym (if you are a member), at the end of the RMG hall in the I-Building, and upstairs in the 110 building.
