Touchdown Space

Touchdown space is space that can be used when you are away from your primary work area, whether that is on campus, at an off-campus site, or at home.  These are unassigned to any one individual, although in some cases they may be reserved for an inidividual's use.  They may include equipment or services such as computing, copying, scanning, faxing, or phones; they may also include staff who service the equipment and perform other functions.

ON CAMPUS

Touchdown space on campus is concentrated in "Club Med", on the ground floor of the Alway building, with an entrance at M-039 (previous location of the Office of Facilities Planning and Management).  Stations include laptop stations, computer terminals that boot in both Mac or Windows, VoIP telephones, copy/supply room, printers, scanners, lockers, a kitchen, and other conveniences.  Please reserve your space when possible using Sundial.  Club Med is fully operational!

In addition to Club Med, there are a number of locations on campus that (in some cases) have wireless access and seating that may be more convenient for between-meeting work.  These include Lane Library, the lobby of the Redwood Building and the Hospital Atrium.

AT SMP

Several touchdown spaces will exist within SMP for visitors from campus, telecommuters and others.  Initially, public areas of the building will be wireless, and each of the soft seating/relaxation areas can be used for work (in the lobbies of the International and 110 Buildings, in all eating/seating areas inside the buildings, and in the "phone rooms" near the breezeway in the AB Wing).  Longer term, we hope to make the entire building wireless, and any unoccupied office may also be used as touchdown space on a first-come, first-served basis.
