Pain
- The duration
and severity of pain that often leads to invasive surgery to repair
a torn vertebral disc may often be the result of a patient's state of
mind, according to research reported April 12 by Eugene Carragee, associate
professor of functional restoration, at the annual meeting of the International
Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine. The researchers found that
torn vertebral discs can be found in many people, even those who have
no trouble twisting, turning and bending.
