GoldthorpeGEORGE GOLDTHORPE, founder of a medical practice that became Stanford-Coastside Medical Clinic, will retire March 31 after 37 years of service in Half Moon Bay. The family practice specialist was a founder of St. Catherine's Hospital, now Seton-Coastside.





STEVEN R. ALEXANDER has been appointed professor of pediatrics (nephrology) at Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. An international authority on pediatric chronic renal failure and dialysis, he serves as division chief of pediatric nephrology and medical director of the Pediatric Kidney Transplant Program at Stanford and Packard.

NORMAN W. RIZK has been promoted to professor of medicine (pulmonary and critical care medicine) at Stanford Medical Center for a continuing term effective January 1998. He is medical director of Stanford Hospital's intensive care units and senior associate chair for clinical affairs for the Department of Medicine.

STUART A. SLAMOWITZ, a medical staff member and clinical instructor in functional restoration who practices podiatry in Los Gatos, has been selected to the board of trustees of the San Jose Cleveland Ballet.

EUGENE H. HOYME has been appointed professor of pediatrics (clinical genetics) at Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital. He came to Stanford last year and heads the Division of Medical Genetics in the pediatrics department.
