-Before you know you want to be a brain surgeon, you might want to feel what touching gray matter is like. Alyssa Brewer, a neurosciences graduate student, gives seventh-graders at Palo Alto's Jordan Middle School a hands-on demonstration of a brain. Brewer and several other graduate students, working under the direction of neurobiology professor William Newsome, made the presentations during February at two local schools. Newsome began the annual presentations several years ago when his own children were middle school pupils. |
