New hospital offers flexible design,
Medical Staff told at Town Hall meeting
Medical Staff members have been told that procedure and patient room flexibility incorporated into the design of Stanford’s proposed new hospital is expected to meet evolving medical needs.

More than 75 staff members who attended a Sept. 25 Town Hall meeting heard physician architect George Tingwald, SHC’s director of medical planning, and Mike Peterson, chief operating officer, describe key features in the design of the proposed new Stanford Hospital, part of the comprehensive Stanford Medical Center Renewal Project targeted for construction between 2010 and 2025. While physicians glimpsed some preliminary design models at the meeting, detailed proposed plans are still in development. (See more.)

Election of 12 deputy chiefs completed

Chief of Staff Bryan D. Bohman has announced the election of 12 deputy service chiefs.

The deputies serve as a liaison between the service chief and the community members (non-fulltime faculty) of each service. Their duties include representing the community medical staff members on the Medical Executive Committee.

“As we continue to intensify our focus on quality improvement, it is expected that this role will become more important,” Bohman said. “For example, it is expected that most deputy chiefs will serve as members of the Professional Practice Evaluation Committees for their respective services.
