Hospital boards
approve Stanford Industry Policy

The SHC Medical Board and the boards of directors of both SHC and Packard Children’s Hospital recently approved Stanford’s policy on interactions with industry.

Dean Philip Pizzo, in his Aug. 21 Dean’s Newsletter, noted that approval by the hospitals allows Stanford to have a unified Medical Center policy on gifts and entitlements from industry.

The policy, which prohibits such enticements as free meals or small gifts at meetings for physicians, went into effect Oct. 1.
