DANA TAYLOR has been named Director of Risk Management at SHC. She formerly served as risk manager at Inova Health System, McLean, VA and is active with the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, serving this year on the national Patient Safety Interest Network Task Force.

Awards and Honors:

ELIZA FARMER CHAKRAVARTY, assistant professor, immunology and rheumatology, has been named the first Dr. Elaine Lambert Fellow in Lupus Research and Treatment in the Center for Clinical Immunology at Stanford (CCIS). The fellowship is the most recent in a series of gifts from the John and Marcia Goldman Foundation that helped launch CCIS 11 years ago. Lambert, who was honored by the Goldmans for her exceptional work as a caregiver, is a former Stanford faculty member and colleague of C. Garrison Fathman, founder and director of the CCIS.

RICHARD HOPPE, the Henry S. Kaplan-Harry Lebeson Professor of Cancer Biology, will receive the 2006 Gold Medal from the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) in November.

 

KULDEV SINGH, professor of ophthalmology, is this year’s recipient of the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Secretariat Award, which recognizes special contributions to the profession. Earlier this year, Singh and four other surgeons from throughout the U.S. won first prize in the cataract section of the Challenge Cup at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Annual Meeting. The team’s winning presentation focused on cataract surgery techniques in patients with intraoperative floppy iris syndrome.

SANJEEV DUTTA has been appointed to assistant professor of surgery and pediatrics.

DOMINIK FLEISCHMANN has been promoted to associate professor of radiology.

ANTONIO HARDAN has been appointed to assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences.

ROBERT CHRISTOPHER HAYWARD, has been promoted to professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences.

 

DOUGLAS LEVINSON has been appointed to professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences.

SAM MOST has been appointed to associate professor of otolaryngology — head and neck surgery.

 

NANCY SHULMAN has been appointed to assistant professor of medicine (infectious diseases and geographic medicine).

ERICH SCHWARTZ has been appointed to assistant professor of pathology.

KRISTIN JENSEN has been appointed to assistant professor of pathology.

NISHITA KOTHARY has been appointed to assistant professor of radiology.

DAVID LIANG has been promoted to associate professor of medicine (cardiovascular medicine).
