Mass General’s Daniel A. Ginsburg named COO

SHC announced on Oct. 29 the appointment of Daniel A. Ginsburg as its new chief operating officer, effective next Jan. 12. He succeeds Michael Peterson, whose retirement as the Hospital’s COO was announced in June.

Ginsburg is currently senior vice president for Cancer and Women’s Programs at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he also serves as president and chief operating officer of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization. The 900-bed Massachusetts General Hospital is the oldest and largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. Ginsburg has held leadership positions at Massachusetts General for the past 14 years, including chairing the Partners Healthcare System Executive Committee on Process Improvement and serving as the hospital’s process improvement champion. Pravene A. Nath, an emergency department physician with a degree in engineering, has successfully launched an electronic health record as a physician executive at New York University. He’s also SHC’s new chief medical information officer, replacing Kevin Tabb, who was promoted to vice president for medical affairs. [See story]
