Emergency preparedness session
held to inform community members


A community education session entitled “Emergency Medicine at Stanford” was held Jan. 24 at SHC, co-hosted by Dean Philip A. Pizzo, and hospital CEO Martha Marsh.

Pizzo, in his Feb. 6 Dean’s Newsletter, said that recent issues such as Hurricane Katrina and the potential for an influenza pandemic, have pointed to the need to develop a more integrated plan that encompasses the University, as well as regional communities, in planning for emergencies.

The dean said the medical center has been involved in planning and the University has been refining its Emergency Management Program:

The Jan. 24 session included presentations by several faculty members on programs and issues of interest to the public.
