Dr. Cox joined the faculty at Stanford as Medical Director of the Pediatric Liver Transplant Program and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition in January 1995. He was previously the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics and also Medical Director of the Pediatric Liver Transplant Program at California Pacific Medical Center before moving to Stanford. Dr. Cox was a former faculty member at the University of California, Davis, where he was involved in pediatric liver transplantation. He completed a year of research at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Cox has had experience in the medical management of more than 200 pediatric liver transplant patients and is active in many pediatric outreach clinics.
