Invention Challenge Carries $2,500 Prize
Can you invent a better approach to anastomosis? That's the challenge being offered by Stanford's Medical Device Network and the Office of Technology Licensing.

A $2,500 prize awaits the entrant who develops the winning proposal for a novel approach to anastomosis - a method for joining blood vessels, which is a time-consuming and difficult procedure using conventional approaches.

The invention challenge is open to students, house staff, fellows and faculty, including physicians, throughout the university.

"The prize will be awarded for the best proposal - and, for a truly outstanding idea, there is a possibility of a patent and potential licensing through Stanford," said Sandy Miller, program coordinator for the Medical Device Network.

To participate, send an e-mail to Miller or call 498-7856. More information on the challenge and on the Medical Device Network is available online.
