Jerry Yang & Akiko Yamazaki Environ. Building(Y2E2) Room 111 : 473 Via Ortega, Stanford, CA

E-cigarettes including the new pod-based products made popular by Juuls have entered the global market, and adolescents and young adults are now using these products more often than combustible cigarettes. This presentation will provide detailed information on e-cigarettes, nicotine levels in these products, addiction, and other health effects. The presentation will also provide information on reasons for adolescent use of these products, including flavors, appeal, marketing, perceived reduced harm, stress, anxiety, and depression, and misperceptions. I will also provide evidence-based resources that can be used to help prevent and reduce youth use of e-cigarettes, as well as advocacy efforts occurring in the US to reduce vaping use.
