Bio-X Frontiers in Interdisciplinary Biosciences Seminar, "Sarcomere Level Function in Human Heart Failure"Oct 02, 2014 (Thu) | 12:00 PM -1:00 PM
James H. Clark Center, 318 Campus Drive, Seminar Room S360
: Stanford, CA
Abstract: The Campbell Muscle Lab at the University of Kentucky seeks sarcomere level therapies for human heart failure. The lab’s research integrates biophysical, biochemical, and computational techniques and is performed in close collaboration with cardiothoracic surgeons and cardiologists. In this seminar, Ken Campbell will present data showing that healthy human hearts exhibit transmural variation in contractile function (power output, force development, and calcium sensitivity) and that heart failure disrupts the normal transmural patterns.
