- Nearly all students screened referred to a health care provider for follow-up care: vision (98%), hearing (100%), dental (100%) and scoliosis (50%). Follow up in comparison non-demonstration schools remained low: vision (58%), hearing (61%), and scoliosis (8%). [Figure]
- 100% of students who were identified with asthma in demonstration schools completed an asthma management plan. [Table]
- By Year 2 (2008-09), parents reported less repeat visits of their child to the ER for an asthma episode than other non-demonstration schools (16.7% vs. 26.3%).
- By Year 4 (2010-11), parents continued to report using less ER services for an asthma episode of their children (17% vs. 22%) compared to other non-demonstration schools. [Figure]
