| Mission of the Center
The Stanford University Center for Human Sleep Research is a facility
dedicated solely to the exploration of sleep and its disorders in humans.
The Center staff work closely with the Stanford Sleep Disorders Clinic
and the basic research group at Stanford to design clinical studies. The
Center is capable of running short-term and long-term studies. State-of-the-art
equipment is used to monitor human subjects in these studies.
Facilities
This facility has 2,630 square feet of space and is specifically designed
for live-in studies. It includes six bedrooms available for polysomnographic
monitoring, bathroom and shower facilities, a central monitoring area,
as well as offices, subject performance testing areas, a lounge and a kitchen
for subjects. The bedrooms are light-proof and sound-attenuated, and connected
to the central monitoring area via polygraph cables, intercoms, and video
cameras.
