Joseph Cheng wins ISMRM Young Investigator Award

June 2015

Dr. Joseph Cheng recently won the W.S. Moore Young Investigator Award from the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM).  Dr. Cheng's entry, entitled "Free-Breathing Pediatric MRI with Nonrigid Motion Correction and Acceleration"  enables much better magnetic resonance imaging capability, particularly in children who may have difficulty remaining still during the exam.

The corresponding scientific article appears in the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging.  Dr. Cheng's award was also featured in this article by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, who sponsors the research project.

Dr. Cheng received his PhD in Electrical Engineering at Stanford, working under Prof. John Pauly.  He has collaborated with Dr. Vasanawala for several years, and the techniques resulting from their research are routinely used for diagnostic imaging for patient care.
