Information for Prospective Students

RSL has numerous graduate students in departments including Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, Applied Physics and many more. (Stanford has no restrictions regarding the department where students perform their research.)

There is currently a doctoral degree program in Biomedical Physics (BMP) under development in Radiology.  Prospective students may apply to the BMP program starting Fall 2021 or may apply through another degree-granting department. You are highly encouraged to contact possible PhD advisors and students and post-docs in RSL both prior to and during the application process. A connection to a possible research lab is a strong consideration for admission in many departments including Electrical Engineering and Bioengineering.

Admissions applications are usually due in November or December - please contact any of our faculty or students with questions or for advice regarding graduate research in medical imaging areas!  We hope that this website provides useful information about the type of work we do, but certainly please ask any questions!
