The RSC is flexible in allowing members to take on as much responsibility and leadership as desired. Time commitments vary by role that you choose to apply for. Bottom line: you can choose a role that fits your schedule.
Core Member: 1-2 hrs per week
- Serves on an RSC project team
- Participates in monthly team conference calls and works on tasks to forward project
- Attends other RSC activities as able
Senior Member: 2-3 hrs per week
- Serves on an RSC project team
- Participates in monthly team conference calls and works on tasks to forward project
- Leads 3 monthly team conference calls
- Serves as a mentor to newer members
- Eligible to be placed as a resident representative on hospital administrative and quality committees
Team Leader: 3-4 hrs per week
- Leads an RSC project team
- Runs most monthly team conference calls
- Attends a monthly leadership conference call with RSC chairs
- Responsible for motivating, mentoring, and organizing the efforts of core and senior members
Vice Chair: Approx 4-5 hrs per week
- Helps direct the vision and growth of the RSC in an assigned domain (education, committees, or technology)
- Organizes all RSC efforts and initiatives around their assigned domain
- Also an active participant and core member of an RSC project team
- Participates in monthly team conference calls and performs project tasks
- Participates in regular meetings with RSC chairs to ensure the Council is accomplishing its goals
VC of Education: organizes regular lectures and trainings for the RSC and the Stanford community on topics of quality improvement, patient safety, and leadership. Oversees the QI symposium.
VC of Committees: Responsible for securing resident slots on important Stanford hospital quality and administrative committees. Ensures those spots are filed by qualified residents. Ensures the RSC is kept updated regarding the activities of members on those committees.
VC of Technology: Ensures the RSC is using technology platforms that will best help the RSC accomplish its goals. Leverages the IT resources available at Stanford to help further individual projects and facilitates communication with electronic medical record data collection and analysis. Creates and directs the RSC twitter account, facebook page, website.
